アメリカのミュージシャン。
伝説のギタリストであり世界最高峰のギタリスト。

多くのミュージシャンに多大な影響を与えたロックミュージックのパイオニアの一人。右利き用のギターを逆さまにして左利きの構えで演奏するスタイルで知られる。ギターを歯や背中で弾き、火を放ち、破壊するパフォーマンスでも有名。
「ローリング・ストーン誌が選ぶ歴史上最も偉大な100人のギタリスト」において2003年は第1位、2011年の改訂版でも第1位に選ばれている[1]。2008年5月にブラジルのメタル専門誌『ROADIE CREW』が行った「HR/HM系ミュージシャンが選ぶギタリスト・ランキング」[2]、『ギター・マガジン』2010年12月号の「ギター・マガジンが選ぶ! 史上最も偉大なギタリスト100人」で1位となっている。
また、「ローリング・ストーン誌が選ぶ歴史上最も偉大な100組のスター」においては第6位に選ばれている。
